Confederate Memorial Day planned in Albany
Regional descendants of Confederate veterans plan the Southwest Georgia Confederate Memorial Service in Albany
ALBANY, GA — At Confederate Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Saturday, Albany will celebrate Confederate Memorial Day.
The park is located on Philema Road, near the Dougherty-Lee County line, about a half mile past the Parks at Chehaw on the right.
The event is sponsored by the Albany Camp of Sons of Confederate Veterans and the Albany Chapter of United Daughters of the Confederacy.
Records are unclear about when the day was established, but it is clear that Southern states have celebrated it for some time.
